Mar 11, 2009 BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Capital Area Human Services District Board. The Capital Area Human Service District Board serves to operate and manage community-based programs and services relative to public health, mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services for the parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. According to statute, the board is comprised of 17 gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. Two members are appointed from the parishes of Ascension, East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. Five members are appointed from East Baton Rouge Parish. Appointees are selected from nominations submitted by the governing authority of each parish, except in Ascension Parish where the parish president will submit the nominations. Appointments to the Capital Area Human Services District Board: Sue Bushey, of Ventress, is a self employed communications consultant and a member of the Pointe Coupee Community Foundation. Bushey was nominated by the governing authority of Pointe Coupee Parish to serve as a representative of the parish, as required by statute. Tandra Davison, of Baton Rouge, is the director of quality services for the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System and a member of the Southside YMCA Board of Directors. Davison was nominated by the governing authority of East Baton Rouge Parish to serve as a representative of the parish, as required by statute. Ami Johnson, of St. Amant, is the public information officer for Ascension Parish and a member of the National Association of Government Communicators. Johnson was nominated by the Ascension Parish President to serve as a representative of the parish, as required by statute. Paula Laird, of Baton Rouge, is the executive vice president and chief accounting officer for Business First Bank. Laird was nominated by the governing authority of East Baton Rouge Parish to serve as a representative of the parish, as required by statute. Alva O’Brien, of Ethel, is the president of the East Feliciana Community Center, Inc., and a member of the East Feliciana Citizens Corp Council. O’Brien was nominated by the governing authority of East Feliciana Parish to serve as a representative of the parish, as required by statute. Jermaine Watson, of Baton Rouge, is a program coordinator and associate with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and a member of Volunteers in Public Schools. Watson was nominated by the governing authority of East Baton Rouge Parish to serve as a representative of the parish, as required by statute. ### |
