Teacher Union President Claims That Students Are The Property Of The Unions
Please watch this revealing report by WBRZ in Baton Rouge where the head of the Louisiana Association of Educators bizarrely claims that students are the property of the unions. LAE President Joyce Haynes said, “[the scholarship program is] taking our children from us, and sending us where we don’t know what they’re getting.”
This is a strange statement considering the fact that the scholarship program is wildly popular among participating parents despite opposition from the unions. The parents who have received scholarships for their children have applied for them, and are using them to pick a school of their choice to educate their children. The children belong to their parents, not the teacher’s union or state government, and parents deserve the right to have a choice in the best school to educate their child.
This comment adds to a long history of strange statements coming from the coalition of the status-quo.
