Welcome from Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities

Louisiana is a vibrant state blessed with an abundance of resources. Louisiana's youth are our most precious commodity and providing a safe and drug-free community environment is our highest priority in the Governor's Safe and Drug Free Office.

Our office awards discretionary grants to non-profit organizations for programs that work to prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. These programs involve parents and communities who coordinate with state, school and community efforts to provide evidence-based strategic programs. Their collective objective is to raise the level of awareness of the dangers of substance abuse and their ultimate consequence on our youth and our families of Louisiana.

These are our children and we will either profit or pay for whatever we inspire them to be. If we are unsuccessful, our children, in need of prevention education, will get lost in the system and our chances of breaking the cycle of addiction diminish immeasurably.
